Applies to: All NIMO Laptops running Windows 11
Symptoms: While your laptop is installing a mandatory Windows update, the screen goes completely black. The keyboard backlight may still be on, but the system appears unresponsive.
Resolution: A black screen during an update is often caused by the graphics driver reconfiguring itself with the new system files. This is usually a temporary freeze.
Be Patient (Do Not Force Shut Down): Sometimes, critical boot files are still being written in the background. Forcing the laptop to shut down during this process can corrupt your operating system. Please wait at least 15-20 minutes.
Wake the Graphics Driver: If the screen remains black, press the following keys simultaneously: Windows Key + Ctrl + Shift + B. You may hear a beep, and the screen will flash. This restarts the graphics driver and will often bring your display back immediately.
Perform a Safe Hard Reset: If the laptop is still unresponsive after 20 minutes and the shortcut above does not work, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to force a shutdown. Unplug the charger and any external devices, wait 1 minute, plug the charger back in, and turn the laptop on.

I tried Windows Key + Ctrl + Shift + B. It did not work.
